Having lived through a war and a revolution, Ali Ghorbani, better known as ‘Ali G’ to his friends, found his love for photography in Germany in 1989. He had a 35mm film camera in one hand and a hammer in the other hand, breaking down The Berlin Wall and taking photographs.

Since then, Ali earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and has traveled to 32 countries, landing in Hong Kong in 2001. While transitioning from Engineering to professional photography, Ali spent several years running a trading business with a partner.

Ali has been mentored by 2 legendary photographers: Henry Dallal, the portrait photographer for Her Majesty The Queen of England, and international award winning National Geographic photographer, Ashraf Talaat.

Ali’s accolades include working in the 1996 Olympic Games, over 15 years of snapping Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Shirley MacLaine, President Clinton, Mariah Carey and Shah Rukh Kahn, to name a few. In addition to being published in The New York Times, Times of India and South China Morning Post, Ali has sold out workshops in Photography & Social Media, including working with brands such as Porsche, Adobe, Dom Perignon, Lan Kwai Fong and Disney.

Ali’s works have been exhibited and sold for over 10 years, most recently as part of the Karen Leung Foundation’s ‘Extraordinary Exhibition’ in Hong Kong. Ali’s piece entitled ‘Dancing in the Shadows’ was sold at auction. https://klfart2020.weraise.hk/

Ali’s NFT artistry is celebrated and shared through his love for photography of people, landscapes and travel. His genesis NFT collection named ‘Hong Kong Red’ is a series of 15 images of 1/1 edition shot entirely on mobile phones, and it sold out. Forever grateful to the team from Sloika for giving him the guidance to drop this collection, his first collector was Sean Lee, the CEO of Algorand, one of the leading players in the blockchain ecosystem. Other notable collectors were Iurie Belegurschi with over 1m Instagram following and the amazing Addie Wagenknecht, 1 of 40 artists commissioned by Time to create their Timepieces NFT collection.
